DMR Two-Way Radios for Schools

DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) is the global standard for digital two-way radios, trusted by educators and safety teams worldwide. Hytera DMR radios are known for their reliability, value, and performance, making them ideal for both small schools and large districts.

With Electrocomm, schools can choose from a wide range of DMR options:

  • Cost-effective radio-to-radio solutions for smaller campuses

  • Professional H-Series radios with advanced safety features and crystal-clear audio

  • DMR trunking systems that scale to handle larger districts with multiple facilities

Benefits include:

  • Rugged design with excellent audio quality

  • Long battery life and extended coverage range

  • Flexible models to fit staff roles from teachers to transportation teams

Push-to-Talk over Cellular for Schools

For schools and districts looking for wide-area coverage without the expense of radio infrastructure, Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) is a powerful solution. Using 4G/5G/LTE cellular networks combined with campus Wi-Fi, PoC radios provide seamless coverage across large or multi-site districts.

Electrocomm offers HORIZON Nationwide PoC, designed specifically for education, with features including:

  • Instant group and individual calling

  • GPS tracking for school buses, maintenance teams, and security patrols

  • A full dispatching application for real-time communication and coordination

  • Device options from lightweight handhelds to mobile radios for vehicles

This makes PoC a smart choice for connecting classrooms, campuses, and transportation with one unified system.

Coverage You Can Count On

Every school is different. Some campuses are a single building; others spread across dozens of sites, arenas, and student housing. Electrocomm delivers guaranteed coverage through:

  • DMR Radios & Systems for scalable digital communication
  • Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) for cost-effective wide-area coverage
  • BDA-DAS Systems to strengthen in-building radio and public safety signals

Radios for Daily Operations

Two-way radios aren’t just for emergencies. They improve daily productivity by keeping everyone connected:

  • Notify staff instantly of security issues, weather alerts, or maintenance needs

  • Integrate radios with PA and phone systems to lock/unlock doors or manage alerts

  • Use mobile radios in buses for safe, reliable transportation communication, with GPS available

Two-Way Radio Accessories

The right two-way radio accessories ensure your team gets the best communications performance with the greatest ease-of-use. Headsets and earpieces enable hands-free operation for busy teachers. Headsets also block background noise during crowded assemblies and sporting events. Belt clips and carry-cases keep radios close by, yet out-of-the way.

Spare batteries ensure that radios are ready to deliver peak signal strength when they are needed most. Multi-unit chargers are available to reduce electrical outlet demands and shelf space requirements.

For mobile radios in buses, speaker microphones make it easier and safer for drivers to communicate.

Accessories That Work as Hard as You Do

Reliable accessories keep your team ready:

  • Headsets and earpieces for hands-free operation and noise control

  • Belt clips, carry-cases, and spare batteries for all-day use

  • Multi-unit chargers and speaker microphones for easier, safer use in classrooms, gyms, or buses

BDA-DAS Systems

Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) is part of a Distributed Antenna System (DAS), both of which are signal boosters used to increase coverage for wireless, two-way radios and cellular devices. Since variables such as building materials, dead spots, and interference offer unique challenges within a facility, nearly every BDA-DAS solution is custom-designed.

Public Safety: In many localities, Bi-Directional Amplifiers are mandated in structures such as schools. BDAs are used to boost two-way radio signal strength on Public Safety frequencies to ensure that first responders remain in contact with each other during an emergency. Electrocomm has experience deploying BDA-DAS signal boosters to meet local codes.

SafeSchools:

Electrocomm-Michigan has been a leader in installing and maintaining district-wide communications systems long before it was popular. Designed to meet the challenges of connecting staff members at multiple district buildings across an entire district with the push of the button. Radios can integrate with local law enforcement or district administrators at the central office.
